Diabetes and MASH

Those living with diabetes are more likely to develop Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH) since both conditions share similar risk factors. While some report symptoms associated with MASH, most people exhibit minor or no signs, meaning it often goes untreated or undetected. Besides routine bloodwork, a liver health scan is an effective way to help diagnose MASH or other liver conditions associated with diabetes.

MASH
MASH often shows no symptoms.
Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH) is defined by the accumulation of fat in the liver, not caused by excessive alcohol use. Known as the silent killer, MASH often has no symptoms until it has progressed. If symptoms do appear, they can include:
- Weight loss
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal pain
- Jaundice
- Swelling in the legs or abdomen
- Confusion

Based on the results, Arizona Liver Health providers will discuss your results and recommend options moving forward.
